[Background and Outlook]
ICNIM is an international academic organization that aims to contribute to the advancement of disease prevention and treatment through research on integrative medicine and functional foods. Amino Up has been running the annual meeting since its inception.
Recent presentations include elucidation of epigenetic control mechanisms by functional foods and verification of combined effects with the latest cancer treatment methods. Those promising reports encourage further clinical verifications such as anti drug-resistant bacteria effect, induction effect of natural immune memory, activation effect of immune system genes of AHCC®. The combination of Oligonol® and BCAA is also expected to be effective in suppressing sarcopenia.
This year’s public symposium discussed how to incorporate integrative medicine into treatment to support the quality of life of cancer patients. In addition to the role of functional foods, the importance of sleep and laughter was also mentioned, providing useful topics for families supporting cancer patients. A general public participant commented “The session was easy to understand and specific. I could learn more about how to face cancer, how to think about it, and how to prepare for it.”
