Immune modulator derived from Cultured Mushroom Mycelia

AHCC® is a functional food that modulates your immune system.

AHCC® is a standardized extract of cultured Lentinula edodes mycelia. Supported by extensive scientific research with more than 100 papers published worldwide, AHCC® has been providing healthy quality of life for the people at home and medical practices around the world since 1989.

What mushroom is used in the production of AHCC®?

AHCC® is produced through a long term culturing process of a specialty mushroom mycelia. In 1987, we found a unique bioactive mycelium of Lentinula edodes from a vast range of basidiomycetes, and this specialty mycelium is exclusively used only for AHCC® production by us at the facility of Amino Up in Sapporo, Japan.

Mycelia are the root-like part of mushroom. Generally we eat umbrella-shaped part, fruiting body, which grows on the soil or wood. For AHCC®, we do not use fruiting body but use standardized mycelia, which are cultured in liquid by our original method with great care under strict quality controls.

What is the active component of AHCC®?

AHCC® is a mixture of nutrients derived from cultured mycelia. Polysaccharides are among those nutrients contained in AHCC®. While general mushroom products contain a polysaccharide called beta-glucans, AHCC® is set apart from them, and contains partly acylated alpha-1,4 glucans, which are not normally found in mushrooms and derived only through our proprietary manufacturing process.   Such unique component of AHCC® brought us exceptional research opportunities, which have been attracting scientists and doctors in the world.
