AHCC®
Immune modulator derived from Cultured Mushroom Mycelia

AHCC® is a standardized extract of cultured Lentinula edodes mycelia.

AHCC® is a mixture of components derived from cultured mushroom mycelia. Mycelia are the root-like parts of fungi which grow in the soil or wood, while the umbrella-shaped part we generally eat as a mushroom is a fruiting body of fungi. For AHCC®, we use mycelia of Lentinula edodes, also known as “Shiitake”.

While general mushroom products mainly contain a polysaccharide called beta-glucans, AHCC® is rich in partly acylated alpha-1,4 glucans, which are not normally found in mushrooms and derived only through our proprietary manufacturing process.

Supported by extensive scientific research with more than 100 papers published worldwide, AHCC® has been used by the people at home and medical practices around the world since its launch in 1989.

Proprietary long-term liquid culturing process.

The proprietary manufacturing process enables us to produce consistent and standardized quality of AHCC® by culturing the specialty strain of mycelia, which we found by screening a vast range of basidiomycetes in 1987. All the AHCC® bulk powder sold in the world are manufactured only at our state-of-the-art facilities in Sapporo, Japan, under strict quality controls.
